Yes, I write about urgent concerns–climate change and migration, politics and poverty, as well as history and art. As I mix research with a rich fund of my own experiences and observations, the resulting ironies are not accidental.

But after I sort out what I think, about war in Syria, floods in Venice, carp ponds, guns, the planetary pandemic–of course I do care very much about readers.
